Q1. Tell us about yourself as an artist/creator. 請向我們簡要介绍一下您作為一位藝術家/創作者的背景和經歷。
My name is Chiahui.I’m from Taiwan.
I graduated from Taiwan National University of Arts – Department of Multimedia Animation of Art in 2012.
I have been engaged in graphic design for 8 years. I have been engaged in case illustration for 3 years,
and have created various cute animal characters for clients. And a personal exhibition is held from May to July 2022.
Q2. What inspired your cover design for Mossery? 是什麼啟發了你的這個封面設計？
I like animals very much, so I always use animals as the theme of creation, and try to express animals in cute shapes.
I don’t mind expressing illustrations in different styles. Since most of the illustrations in handbooks now revolve around plants,
I think Perhaps everyone can have a different choice.
Q3. Describe your artistic style and influences. 請描述一下您的藝術風格和受到影響的因素。
Most of my work is inspired by travel.
I love traveling and absorbing cultural knowledge from various places. And through anthropomorphic transformation,
people are transformed into animals, hoping to reduce the boundaries between humans and creatures.
Let each animal in the painting be the incarnation of some relatives and friends around us,and sometimes animals are often more human.
Although my works are full of images of different places of the world, the design of the characters is deeply influenced by East Asian comics, so it presents a completely different thinking from Western way.
Q4. What was your creative process for this design? 請分享一下您這個設計的創作過程。
First of all, I choose works that I think can make the picture rich enough,
and hope that the picture can present the characteristics and cuteness of various animals as much as possible,
and make fine-tuning according to the layout requirements, so that the picture is balanced without losing the original flavor of the work.
Q5. Did you face any challenges during the creation? How did you overcome them? 在創作過程中是否遇到了任何挑戰？如果有的话，你是如何克服它們的？
I am very worried that the shape of the animal is not cute enough, not attractive enough,
so I have to try to draw various shapes until I am satisfied. I need to spend a lot of time thinking about how to express the shape,
hoping to make the animal look recognizable and have enough Cuteness.
Q6. Are there specific themes or messages you wanted to convey through the cover? 你希望通過這個封面傳達哪些信息？
Are there any specific themes or messages you wanted to convey through the cover?
There are more and more human beings, so the space in this world is gradually occupied by humans.
If the world is returned to animals, maybe it will be a different landscape.
Will animals live happier in the world? Are they more happy? I can find a place to live and live.
I can only use my imagination to replace humans with animals, but I hope that humans can leave more space for non-human animals.
Q7. What is creativity mean to you? 創意對你而言是什麼
I think art can make people see the world from different angles in a unique way,
let people think more deeply about their relationship with others, or detect their subtle psychological state,
when people can see a wider world Or being aware of one’s own heart can bring more peace and reduce conflicts.
Maybe it’s not just affecting the state of personal mental health. I think art can affect a wider level.
Q8. What emotions do you hope people feel when they see your cover? 您期待別人看到你的封面時，它會帶給人們什麼樣的情緒？
TI hope that everyone will be attracted by the cute animal illustrations, and guess which animals are from the pictures,
just like the identification game I liked to play when I was a child, when I find some small details from the pictures, or guess what it is. very happy.
Q9. What advice do you have for aspiring artists or creators who want to make their mark in the industry? 對於那些初入行的藝術家或創作者，你有什麼建議？
I feel that I have not reached the level where I can give advice to others, and I am still trying to figure it out.
I hope everyone can find their own direction and way of survival.
